Two full episodes of the Danny Kaye Show are found on this one disc collection.  Filled with songs, comedy skits, and talented performers, there is something for everyone in this collection.  A great addition to any collection of some very wonderful talent of years past.

The first is a black & white episode with Nat King Cole and a guest appearance by Mary Tyler Moore and Jamie Farr.  In this December 25, 1963 episode, Cole sings his famous “Christmas Song” (chestnuts roasting on the fire) while Moore and Farr join Kaye in some merriment with comedy skits.  The show ends with Moore, Cole and Kaye sitting mid-stage on bar stools singing “Let There Be Peace on Earth”.

The second episode is in color with Peggy Lee and Harvey Korman and a very young Wayne Newton.   Newton couldn’t have been more than 20 if that on this December 21, 1966 episode.  This episode ends with Danny Kaye singing “Some Children See Him”.

The song list is sensational:

Episode 1: “Comes Once in a Lifetime” – Kaye

“Get Me to the Church on Time” – Cole

“The Christmas Song” – Cole

“Jingle Bells/Jingle Journey” – Kaye and Cole

“Baby Its Cold Outside” – Kaye and the Clinger Sisters

“Let There Be Peace on Earth” – Kaye, Moore and Cole

Episode 2: “Waltz Around the Christmas Tree” – Kaye

“So What’s New?” – Lee

“Here’s That Rainy Day” – Lee

“Jingle Bells/Jingle Journey” – Kaye and Lee

“Jingle Bell Rock” – Newton

“Somewhere” – Newton

“Every Street’s a Boulevard” – Newton

“Let There Be Peace on Earth” – Kaye and the International Children’s Choir

“Some Children See Him” – Kaye

The bonus clip of Kaye as he sits in a reading chair to read an excerpt from Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” is charming and wonderful.

This DVD is a wonderful collector’s item for those who cherish the old and forgotten TV programs of yester-year.  It’s entertaining and charming.  Seeing a young Newton belting out “Jingle Bell Rock” is fun and seeing a young Jamie Farr gallivanting about the stage with Kaye is hilarious.  Enjoyable, entertaining, and did I mention that Nat King Cole sings “The Christmas Song” on this disc?

A must have for collectors of old TV programs and the good old days.  Entertaining even in this day and age.  A true statement to the talent of these past stars.

That’s my review and I’m sticking with it.
