The Ransom Center began the Summer Film Series on June 16th and continues with a showing of the color drenched biopic, Frida (2002), directed by Julie Taymor. Salma Hayek stars as Frida Kahlo in the feature length film that will be screened on Thursday, July 14, at 7 p.m. in the Ransom Center’s Charles Nelson Prothro Theater.

The theater seats 125 individuals, with the line forming upon arrival of the first person. Doors open 30 minutes in advance. Screenings are free and open to the public. The film’s runtime is 123 minutes and is rated R.

Attendees may enter to win a copy of Frida: A Biography of Frida Kahlo by Hayden Herrera and a set of artists notecards featuring Frida Kahlo.

The Ransom Center’s art collection includes Kahlo’s Self-portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird, on view in the lobby. They will be on display until July 28th.
