Award Winning Documentary ‘A LIFE ASCENDING’ Available
on iTunes and In Stores November 13
After garnering critical acclaim and recognition at film festivals around the world, the multi award-winning film A LIFE ASCENDING, from Ptarmigan Films, will be released on iTunes and in stores on November 13.  Directed by Stephen Grynberg (Love from Ground Zero), A LIFE ASCENDING chronicles the life of legendary mountain guide Ruedi Beglinger, 8 years after a tragic avalanche took the lives of 7 climbers that were exploring some of the most extreme mountains in the world, under Beglinger’s guidance.
Featuring breathtaking cinematography and riveting personal accounts from some of the climbers, Beglinger’s family, guests and staff, A LIFE ASCENDING weaves a dramatic tale that allows an intimate view into a unique life lived amidst sublime beauty and ever-present danger.  The tight-knit Beglingers live and work in the unforgiving wilderness of the Selkirk Mountains of Western Canada. The only access to their home is by helicopter.  Beglinger and his wife, Nicoline, raise and home school their two teenage daughters, with the simplicity and dedication of pioneers creating a grounded warmth and familial bond that proves life-saving in the aftermath of the tragic accident. While “A Life Ascending” speaks directly to mountaineers, skiers and nature enthusiasts, its appeal is universal in its telling of the very human story of struggle and redemption.
A LIFE ASCENDING has won 11 international festival awards including three awards at the world renowned Banff Mountain Film Festival, the Audience Choice Award at DocuWest, Best Mountain Film at Britain’s Kendal Mountain Film Festival, Best Cinematography at BendFilm and the Planet Prize given to the film that “offers the most significant impact for the enrichment and improvement of our world” at the European Spiritual Film Festival in Paris.  The film played to sold out audiences in over 100 cities around the world on the Banff World Tour.
A LIFE ASCENDING will be available on iTunes and other retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, and Barnes & Noble beginning on November 13, 2012.  The suggested retail price is $24.95.
