(AUSTIN, TX)—The Austin Film Society, The Alamo Drafthouse and VANS are excited to present BONES BRIGADE: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY on Friday, October 26th at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar at 10 PM. The evening will feature a premiere screening of the film, by Stacy Peralta (DOGTOWN & Z-BOYS, RIDING GIANTS), profiling the greatest skateboard team ever assembled that included Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Steve Caballero, Tommy Guerrero, Mike McGill and Rodney Mullen. Skateboard legends Rodney Mullens and Lance Mountain will be in attendance.
ABOUT BONES BRIGADE: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY
It’s not a death metal band, an extreme diet club or historic dominoes association—the Bones Brigade was a talented gang of teenage outcasts. Unmotivated by fame or popularity, they completely dedicated their lives to a disrespected art form. For most of the 1980s, this misfit crew headed by a 1970s ex-skateboard champion blasted the industry with a mixture of art and raw talent becoming the most popular skateboarding team in history. The core unit of the Bones Brigade (mechanical engineer: George Powell; skateboarders: Stacy Peralta, Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Steve Caballero, Tommy Guerrero, Mike McGill and Rodney Mullen) built an empire that covered the world. They dominated contests, made hundreds of thousands of dollars, created the modern skateboard video, reinvented endemic advertising, pushed skate progression into a new era, and set the stage for a totally new form of skating called street style. There’s nothing comparable in today’s skateboarding.
BONES BRIGADE: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY opens in Theaters beginning November 2, 2012 and will be on DVD December 4, 2012. The Film is Official Selection of the Sundance Film Festival 2012.
Special thanks to: VANS, Falco Ink and Alamo Drafthouse
