News: New Director of Marketing for AFS

(Austin, TX)—The Austin Film Society is pleased to announce Stephanie J. Baker as the new Director of Marketing, and bids farewell to Agnes Varnum after five years of service. Stephanie will be the local and national media contact working to promote AFS’s programs and services. She will involved in the growth of AFS’s pillar programs including membership, the annual MAKE WATCH LOVE AUSTIN party on December 8th and the acclaimed Texas Film Hall of Fame Awards in March. About Stephanie J. Baker:

Raised in San Angelo, Texas, Stephanie J. Baker joined the AFS as Director of Marketing in September 2012, after managing sponsors and filmmaker events at SxSW 2011. Prior to that, Stephanie lived in New York City for 12 years working for award-winning publications in marketing and promotions. During that time, as Marketing Director for Bon Appétit magazine, Stephanie managed marketing campaigns, national media tours and multi-day festivals for global brands, including a dining series in partnership with the Sundance Film Festival. Stephanie also developed cross promotions with major film and television networks including Warner Bros., Columbia Pictures and Turner Classic Movies. Prior to that, Stephanie worked for Elle Décor, Metropolitan Home, Home and Voguemagazines, producing everything from star-studded benefits, auctions and live performances to red-carpet award shows, press events and product launches.
