Review: THE LION KING

After the murder of his father, Mufasa (James Earl Jones), a young prince, Simba (Daniel Glover), flees his kingdom only to learn the true meaning of responsibility and bravery (IMDB).

The actors chosen to voice these characters perform wonderfully and their singing is great as well. Especially, young Simba (JD McCrary) and Nala (Shadadi Wright Joseph). And, of coarse Beyoncé cannot be left out because she is a spectacular singer. Overall, the music is not only updated but the length of the songs is shortened which I think is a good thing.

This film is visually stunning and is a spectacular remake of the original 1994 animated film. The computer effects are great because you can see the fur on every animal move with the wind. That is something that could not be accomplished years ago. There is so much more nuance gained by the advancement of computer-generated effects that I believe enhance the movie going experience.

What I truly enjoy about all of the Disney remakes is not only the use of new technology but the minor tweaking and enhancing of the original plot lines which I appreciate and think it makes them even better. Any major franchise tries to find ways to make more money and updating these films is a way for Disney to do just that. I for one am sick and tired of all the drama people create by tearing remakes apart. Take it for the entertainment value and live your life.

This film is wonderful and any Disney fan should see it. I was fortunate enough to see it on an IMAX screen and would definitely recommend it to everyone.
